Birthday Blizzard

This is what we woke up to this morning...
We discovered that throughout the night it had snowed...
The fresh fallen snow made me excited...
However, Lily had a slightly different reaction.  When I told her to open the window outside she asked excitedly, "Why?  Is there a present for me out there?"  I told her to just go ahead and open the window.  When she did, her excitement turned to disappointment.  I'm sure thoughts of our last snowfall popped into her mind.  The snowfall that ended up postponing her birthday party.  Then she asked me, "Does this mean my birthday is going to be cancelled?"  I reassured her that the weather would not affect us celebrating her special day...
The snow continued to fall like this all day long.  It was actually a beautiful sight...
Sasha was even in awe of it and had to go check it out...
Crazy little puppy...
Once we were all bundled up, with our gloves on, it was time to play...
For Sophia, it was time for her to decide if she really wanted to be out in the cold...
Lily didn't hesitate to make her first snowball of the day...
and then throw it at me...
Sophia got caught taking her gloves off...
ATTACK OF THE SNOWBALLS!!!
Ooh look, a snowflake...
I wonder how it tastes...
Mmm, good enough to eat...
Want some Sissy??
Going back for more...

Today, on Lily's birthday, there was a record snowfall in Little Rock (7").  After getting past her initial shock, this snow made Lily especially happy.  A special surprise for a special girl.

But it got me wondering if maybe this was a gift sent from a special person above.  A person who wanted to also celebrate with Lily.  Maybe it was just Mother Nature, but I choose to believe that another person played a part in it.  Thanks grandma!  She loved her gift!

Through The Years

Something special happened to me four years ago today.  You were born...
The first year passed quickly and when you turned one, you were ready to celebrate...
After many major milestones, it was time to celebrate your second birthday.  I was warned about the terrible twos, but there was not a single thing terrible about you...
We made it through that second year, and before I knew it, my little girl was turning three...
Now another year has gone by, much too fast, and here we are, celebrating birthday number four...
With each passing year, you get smarter and more beautiful, just when I think that it's not possible.

Someone special came to me four years ago and has changed my life forever.

I LOVE YOU LILY!
Happy 4th Birthday!

A Day Early

Today we took time out to celebrate my sweet girl's fourth birthday...
We let Lily choose the restaurant and she chose Chili's, but on one condition, that we go to the bookstore after.  I was okay with that, but for some reason Sophia didn't seem happy...
Maybe it's because this is the end result of her encounter with the hair dryer this morning.  She insisted on doing it herself and there was NO fixing it...
However, nothing could dampen Lily's day...
After we finished our meal, I tried to trick Lily by telling her that we had to go because we were done eating.  But she insisted that she was going to get a special treat from the restaurant...
This was her expression when they DID come sing her "Happy Birthday"...
After the singing was done, Lily looked at me and said, "I told you they were going to bring me cake."  Not only cake, but an especially yummy cake and ice cream...
After lunch and the bookstore, we had Lily open some gifts...
Sophia even had a few to open...
Lily took her time opening this package from Grandma Owee...
Next was a gift from Michael and Nathan Mead...
Then the girls received gifts from their Uncle Ry-Ry...
While Lily opened her last present...
Sophia was trying to figure out how to open Lily's new doll...
Lily's reaction to her gift...
Pure Delight...
Sophia even got one of her very own...
Happy (early) Birthday my dear princess!

Share Day

Lily was set to have share day at school the next day.  She really enjoys share days and usually knows right away what she wants to take, but not today.  After we got home from dance class she still didn't have anything "special" enough to take.

Until we discovered this waiting for us on our doorstep...
She immediately knew that she had found her something special.

Thank you Auntie Katie and Uncle Boo Boo!
