Baby Steps

I was sure that I was going to be arrested today.
I just knew that I would be taken away in a police car for abusing my poor children.
Why?
Today the girls start swim lessons
I am pretty sure that swim lessons in February classifies as cruel and unusual punishment in some Mommy Handbook.

Nevertheless, I got the girls dressed in their bathing suits...

and soon most of my fears were put to rest.

For one, I wasn't the only parent accompanying bathing suit clad children to the pool.
Secondly, the indoor pool was heated quite comfortably.
Finally, the girls were NOT miserable and were quite happy about getting into a pool in the middle of winter...
Besides, after being at the pool for just a short time, I was reminded as to why I was there.
Water makes me uneasy.
However, water does not make her uneasy...
I don't want to feel terrified every time my girls go near a pool.
I do not want to feel the tightness in my chest for fear that they will fall in and will not be saved.
My chest felt tight while I tried to casually take pictures today.
Not a good feeling.
I am not looking for the next Michael Phelps.
Rather I am looking to have my children be strong swimmers.
Unlike myself...
Baby steps were taken today.
Tiny steps were taken to teach Lily and Sophia how to swim.
I took the tiniest step towards becoming more comfortable with the girls in the water.
Very tiny.
I don't want them to feel the fear I do around water.
It's not healthy.
So I am okay with baby steps.

Huffing and Puffing

Our time at The Little Gym had come to an end.
The month I had Sophia signed up for came and went quickly.
In my effort to stay closer to home, we tried a free trial at Huff and Puff Gymnastics.
No dance, only gymnastics.
Sophia is a strong little girl and I know swinging on bars and climbing things (without being told to constantly get down) will be wonderful for Sissy...
Sophia has definitely found her happy place...
So Huff and Puff is where we will stay!

A Little Taste of Spring

Every once in a while, we catch a little break.

After being sick and cooped up in the house for the past few days,
we were greeted by the sunshine and a spring-like 74 degree day.

It was marvelous...

and just what the Dr. ordered.
Thank you Mother Nature!

Sick Days

Some of you may have noticed that there has been a lack of blog posting recently.

The reason is very simple actually.
I have had to take a few sick days.

First Sophia got sick.
She had a fever, aches and a really yucky cough.
Lily thought she sounded like she was barking.
Then I came down with the aches, pains and fever myself.
Shortly after, Lily joined Sissy and I on this little sick trip we were on.

In order to keep Joe from getting sick, I kept the girls and cared for them as most of us Supermommy's tend to do.
We secluded ourselves in my bedroom and took turns coughing, sneezing and blowing our noses.
By day four of caring for two sick kids and myself,
I couldn't do it anymore.

I called Joe in a panic and needed him to take care of the now healthier girls so this sick momma could get better.
After two days of sleeping and antibiotics for the flu,
I finally came back to the land of the living.
Thankfully the girls are now better and more importantly, Joe never got sick.

He was an incredible caretaker of me and the girls for those few LONG days.
No complaints, just tender loving care.
I appreciate him even more now.

Needless to say, a week of laying in bed doesn't generally produce very good pictures
or great photo opportunities.
But now that I am up and going again, I promise that there will be more pictures in the near future.
Because a healthy mommy is a happy mommy!

All I Want Is A Little Nook-E

This year's birthday wish list was very short.  All I had been wanting for a couple months was a little Birthday Nook-E (e-reader that is)...
With the ever changing technology, it was inevitable that a favorite past time of mine, reading, would be made simpler and more exciting.
Gone are the days of my girls removing my bookmark  from my "old fashioned" book causing me to reread pages already read.
Not only can I read magazines and books, but I can also enjoy one of my other favorite past times,
surfing the net...
What will they think of next??

A Girl of Few Needs

Keeping Sophia entertained is pretty simple.  All she usually needs is her pink I-Touch and a bowl of goldfish...

See how happy these two things make her...
Ah, the simple life of a three year old!
