Happy Birthday To Moo

Elle turned two today and what could be better than having the celebration at Maggie Moo's ice cream shop!?

Each child picked out their own favorite flavor...

Lily chose the "pink" ice cream and added sprinkles...

Sophia chose the exact same thing as Lily because let's be honest, ANYTHING Lily does, Sophia wants to do, too (I guess that's one of the perks of having an older sister)...

The birthday girl...

Sophia quite enjoyed her ice cream, but what she was really waiting for was ...

this cake.  It was made of her most favorite kind of cake, "Chockit"...

We sang "Happy Birthday" to Elle and for some reason, Sophia had this reaction...

There must be something about getting older that Sophia just does not like.  Join the club.

The Writing's On The Wall

In my almost 4 years of motherhood, I have discovered that the differences between two children can be quite astounding.  For instance, Lily was definitely a talker at a young age, whereas Sophia was my climber.  Lily could also be easily entertained by reading books, whereas Sophia is much more interested in drawing...

ON MY WALLS!!
Good thing it's nothing a little paint can't take care of (Joe will be very excited to hear that)

Reading Nook

We all need to get away every once in a while for a little ME time.  Reading a good book is a great way to relax and unwind.  But with a little sister and a mommy and daddy near by, it's hard to get that alone time.  Lily came up with the perfect solution...

Ahh, peace and quiet!

Test Drive

We haven't seen many nice days lately, so when we saw that Mr. Sunshine was out, we took the girls outside.  They seemed to be especially drawn to the different forms of transportation we had for them in the garage.

The car was the first thing to come out...

But driving it in the grass proved to be too complicated...

So out came Sophia's new Radio Flyer trike/vespa...

Which Lily wanted to ride...

With a little help from Joe, Lily took off...about 5 feet...

Who wants to work hard to get somewhere when you've got a powered vehicle waiting for you...

This was Sophia's first time in the driver's seat and Lily was showing her how to do it...

Actually, Lily didn't just SHOW Sophia how to make the car go, Lily had to do it for her...

Sophia was only interested in pushing the pedal down until Joe had to yell for her to STOP...

A little driving music...

The girls took off down the road...

A glimpse of what it will look like in 12 more years...

Get off the roads now, while it is still safe!

Hand In Hand

Jen captured this moment on camera and it totally melted my heart...

Jack Of All Trades

It's always interesting waiting to hear what is going to come out of a three year old's mouth.  I am usually surprised by what Lily says, but most of the time, I am simply entertained.

Take today for instance:
While working out at the house, Lily decided to join me.  At one part in the workout, she looked at me and said:

"Mama, do you see me work outing?  Sometimes when I am doing my workout, I like to do Apple Jacks, but not today."

The other day she made me chuckle as well.  The girls were being really lovey with me and giving me kisses on my back, cheek and forehead.  After a few moments of this, Lily pulled up my pajama pants and kissed my leg.  Then said:

"Ouch mommy!  Your hair hurt me!"

Hint well taken Lil.  Guess it's time to shave!

Snow Day

Lily was the first to discover that it was "no-ing" (snowing) outside. She wanted to go make snow angels and I must say, I really wanted to join her.
It took a moment to get a reaction from Sophia...
Then her look clearly told me that she wasn't excited about this whole snow thing...

Lily was...
She couldn't wait to make a snowball...

Sophia couldn't wait to go inside...
One successful snow ball made...
One very happy snow bunny...

SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!
Sophia finally got into the snowball spirit...
Not feeling totally frozen...

Lily kept on...
and finally made her snow angel...
Then decided she was too cold and wet to stay in the snow any longer...
and wanted to go into the warm house because she was "done with the snow".
