The Big Bang

With the Fourth of July fast approaching, I asked my girls if they were excited for this American holiday.

Lily asked me what types of things we do to celebrate.

I told her that most Fourth celebrations include wearing a patriotic ensemble, bar-b-quing and fireworks.

Lily was thrilled with the first two, but hated the sound of the fireworks.

Literally.

So for today's Murphy celebration,

the girls put on their red, white and blue.

We bar-b-qued some burgers and added some corn and watermelon in for good measure.

Our "fireworks" consisted of poppers and sparklers.

All done before it was even dark...

Joe picked out the biggest sparklers he could find...

And as an added safety precaution, we pulled Lily's hair away from her face so as not to recreate the Michael Jackson Pepsi commercial incident...

It's nice to know that I don't have to worry about toes and fingers being lost to fireworks.
