Our visit to California happened to be during the time the girls were supposed to go to the Pumpkin Patch for their field trip.
It made me sad thinking that Sophia wouldn't get the opportunity to go on her first school field trip.
Those little trips with their school friends are always special.
Then I got the idea to have them make a pumpkin patch trip while in California with two special people,
Papa and Grandma...
Lily walked in the gate, grabbed a wheelbarrow and nabbed her pumpkin...
Sophia also grabbed a wheelbarrow, but she wasn't as quick to grab just any pumpkin, she wanted the perfect one...These smashed gourds are known as "Cinderella" pumpkins.
They are actually quite neat...
Sophia took a break from pumpkin hunting and rode Poppy the horse...
Then she discovered Poppy's missing horseshoe...
It didn't take Lily long to find his other horseshoe...
The missing horseshoes reaped rewards for those that found them...
A sucker for Sophia...
A duck call for Lily...Sophia finally chose a pumpkin.
ALthough it was not it's name, she fondly referred to it as the "Snow White" pumpkin...
Papa bought the girls wristbands that allowed them each an hour on all of the inflatables.
It was definitely money well spent...
After slipping and sliding all over the big slide, the girls tried this inflatable.
It was quite interesting seeing them pop (or more like poop out of the end)...
Papa gathered a few more pumpkins...
Lily blew her duck call...
And we finished off the day with a hay ride...
Today had everything their field trip would have had, but with the extra special addition of Daddy, Grandma and Papa.
