If there is one thing the girls love to eat, it's fruit.
Strawberries tend to top their list of favorite fruits.
The people in Long Grove, Illinois must love strawberries as well.
So much so that they have a festival every year.
Lucky for us, we were in the right place at the right time.
Even better, I had the perfect outfits for the girls...
Before we could even think about all of the delicious strawberry delicacies that we would consume, breakfast was a high priority.
Today was all about special treats.
What could be more special than breakfast at Richard Walker's?
Trust me when I tell you this is THE BEST breakfast spot...
Ditado and Papa timed their Illinois arrival perfectly and were able to join us...
Long Grove is a quaint little town about 20 minutes outside of Schaumburg.
I had never been and knew this was the perfect excuse to take in it's beauty...
Then it was the dessert trays that stopped them (and myself) in their tracks...
It was obvious to me that this town wasn't just about strawberries.
There was so much natural beauty everywhere you turned...
Lily even found a statue that took an expression right out of her book...
After taking in the sights, Sophia wanted to try the first strawberry delicacy.
Papa brought over a strawberry Jamba juice...
Sophia LOVED it...
And as you can see from the photos...
Did not let it go until it was completely finished...
The people of Long Grove really wanted to make this about more than the food.
They wanted to be sure the kids were entertained as well.
Nothing could be more entertaining than pony rides, right?
Sophia was thoroughly entertained...
Lily, not so much...

Instead of opting to say "Cheese" for the camera, the girls went with the obvious choice given the day.
Say "strawberry festival"...
Strawberries weren't the first thing to catch the girl's eye, it was the daisies that were all around...Then it was the dessert trays that stopped them (and myself) in their tracks...

So much fun.
And our day was only half done!
