A Little Taste of Spring

Every once in a while, we catch a little break.

After being sick and cooped up in the house for the past few days,
we were greeted by the sunshine and a spring-like 74 degree day.

It was marvelous...

and just what the Dr. ordered.
Thank you Mother Nature!

Sick Days

Some of you may have noticed that there has been a lack of blog posting recently.

The reason is very simple actually.
I have had to take a few sick days.

First Sophia got sick.
She had a fever, aches and a really yucky cough.
Lily thought she sounded like she was barking.
Then I came down with the aches, pains and fever myself.
Shortly after, Lily joined Sissy and I on this little sick trip we were on.

In order to keep Joe from getting sick, I kept the girls and cared for them as most of us Supermommy's tend to do.
We secluded ourselves in my bedroom and took turns coughing, sneezing and blowing our noses.
By day four of caring for two sick kids and myself,
I couldn't do it anymore.

I called Joe in a panic and needed him to take care of the now healthier girls so this sick momma could get better.
After two days of sleeping and antibiotics for the flu,
I finally came back to the land of the living.
Thankfully the girls are now better and more importantly, Joe never got sick.

He was an incredible caretaker of me and the girls for those few LONG days.
No complaints, just tender loving care.
I appreciate him even more now.

Needless to say, a week of laying in bed doesn't generally produce very good pictures
or great photo opportunities.
But now that I am up and going again, I promise that there will be more pictures in the near future.
Because a healthy mommy is a happy mommy!

All I Want Is A Little Nook-E

This year's birthday wish list was very short.  All I had been wanting for a couple months was a little Birthday Nook-E (e-reader that is)...
With the ever changing technology, it was inevitable that a favorite past time of mine, reading, would be made simpler and more exciting.
Gone are the days of my girls removing my bookmark  from my "old fashioned" book causing me to reread pages already read.
Not only can I read magazines and books, but I can also enjoy one of my other favorite past times,
surfing the net...
What will they think of next??

A Girl of Few Needs

Keeping Sophia entertained is pretty simple.  All she usually needs is her pink I-Touch and a bowl of goldfish...

See how happy these two things make her...
Ah, the simple life of a three year old!

Our Sanctuary

The transformation of turning our blah, boring boudoir into more of a special sanctuary has been completed (with the exception of some much needed accessories).  It was a lot of hard work, but these two amateurs did a pretty fantastic job, if I do say so myself.

Let me first remind you of the before:

The day before we were to put in the flooring, the old rugs needed to be removed from the room...

Which left Sophia feeling sad...
and that her dirty little feet would leave lovely little prints...

Our New Room:

Now it's time for some much needed sleep.

Because I Love Her

For Lily's morning project at school, they made these little valentines...
Then they were told to dedicate it to anyone they want and Lily chose this someone special to receive it...
I told Lily that it was very sweet that she wants to give it to Sissy to which she replied...

"It's because I love her Mommy."

(Insert tear here)
I love that my girls love each other so much.

3 Year Check Up

Today was Sophia's 3 year check up.  Thankfully there would be no shots today.  We would just get a chance to see how Sophia is doing compared to others her age.

Her measurements were as follows:
Height: 37.5 inches (61st percentile)
Weight: 32 pounds (63rd percentile)
BMI (Body Mass Index): 16 (59th percentile, which is great because they should be between 50-75%)

Once we were informed that Sophia was growing as she should be, I discussed the topic of Sophia's speech.  Apparently you are supposed to be able to understand 75% of what a three year old says.  I stay home with Sophia all day and can only understand about 50% of what she says.  Most of the time I have to bring in my translator (Lily) to decipher some of her words.

For those of you that talk to her on the phone, you understand me when I say it is very hard to understand her.  So I voiced my concern to the doctor and she agreed that Sophia needs to go through some additional testing.  The Dr. seems to think that Sophia will need a little speech therapy, but before we get her started with that, she will first need a hearing test to ensure that she can hear everything around her.  I believe it isn't her hearing that is the issue (except when she uses it selectively), but I will do whatever needs to be done to get Sophia where she needs to be.

Her hearing test is scheduled for January 27th.  I will keep you posted on the outcome.

Love and Support

Although losing family is always difficult, it helps you step back and truly appreciate the family that you still have that supports you and cares for you...
Thank you Christi and Sean.  We love you too!

Wonder Woman Preparations

I am working really hard on making Lily's 5th birthday spectacular.  As most of you know, she has chosen a Wonder Woman theme, which to be honest, has been really hard to do.

However, being the Supermom I am, I got the invitations ordered along with the coordinating thank you's and cupcake picks.  The cake has been ordered as well.

I wasn't sure what to do for favors because there isn't a ton of party stuff out there.
So instead I decided to do a candy bar wrapper.
Tell me what you think...
Now I am just debating on whether or not to order this exquisite little pendant...
I am sure the answer to that will be YES!

Snow Day

Yesterday it snowed...
A LOT...
This wasn't the light dusting we got while in Chicago.
This was the was the kind of snowfall where you could make snow angels...
and snow balls...
Big snowballs!
So big that you wonder when your mommy is going to put her camera down so you can pelt her with them...
And if you can't get your mother with them, you better try going after your sister...
This kind of snow is the kind that is so thick that there was plenty to fill up on...
With all this snow, you couldn't get away with NOT making a snowman...
However, you still needed to use gentle hands...
So as to not decapitate poor Frosty...
And when you do knock his head off, you just pick up where you left off...
Even if it means having to start over because head number one just never fits quite the same after rolling off the first time...
HAPPY SNOW DAY!
