Sophia Turns Five

Once my baby, my now "middle" child, turned 5 today...
There wasn't going to be a party with her friends today, just her family.
She got to pick whatever it was that she wanted to do.
She chose ice skating...
It took them a few moments to get used to the ice again.
I thought this trip would be short lived, but those determined girls of mine did not give up...
There was a lot of wall holding, but eventually they were brave enough to let go...
Maddie slept through the whole thing...
After skating, Sophia opened up presents from all of her friends and family...
She received many awesome gifts.
Uncle Rudy and Aunt Liane joined us for the yummy strawberry cake (gag)...

Makin' Bakin'

Sophia wanted strawberry cake for her birthday.
She also wanted to make said cake.
While supervised, we were leaving the baking of this magnificent cake in the hands of a 6 year old, 5 year old and a duck.
Oh boy...
During the mixing process, Sophia informed us that  she just loves "cooking with rotten eggs."
I think she meant to say "raw eggs.'
I hope...
The girls worked really hard on it and were proud of their baked cake...
WE quickly discovered that although the pink cake looked pretty, it's taste left a lot to be desired.
This wasn't the fault of the girls, but rather an artificially flavored strawberry overload.
I do not think that I will be requesting strawberry cake anytime soon.
Or ever.
